Torsten Reimer talked about his work in JISC. JISC promotes Open Access and Open Data and aims to provide the necessary infrastructure. Web 2.0 is a big topic and daily tool at JISC. JISC promotes virtual research environment. Example: VERA. Torsten Reimer echoed the previous discussions about attribution of online contributions and reputation systems. He repeated the increasing openness in the sciences not the least for citizen scientists - which finally led him to crows sourcing in science.

One of his projects was Strandlines:
Strandlines Digital Community explores one of London’s most famous streets, the Strand, and its past and present communities. This site is an archive from which experiences, memories and reflections about the local area can be retrieved; a gallery where photographs, drawings and films can be viewed. But it is also a place where residents, workers and visitors can engage with one another by sharing stories and images.

Which brought him to Galaxy Zoo - wich really needs no explanation or introduction for anybody who happens to read this far He concluded his talk by saying that the new developments of incorporating the public into the sciences, be it by open access or by citizen science, opens a new beginning for all the sciences and every scientist will now have to re-think the way they do science and make their science public.
