Just as now access to drinking water is a human right, access to the literature should be a scientific right.

Just registered for this year's SfN meeting in San Diego. Are you coming, too?

I feel very flattered. Just because of some blog rants about the inappropriateness of impact factors (IF), Bora Zivkovic has asked me to moderate the session on the post-IF world at ScienceOnline'09
Seriously, though, I think it's a very adequate session as the time is rapidly approaching where IFs will be a thing of the past and we need to find a way how we can get the bean counters to move along. I've tentatively named the session: "Reputation, authority and incentives. Or: How to get rid of the Impact Factor". This should be an interesting discussion and after participating in the Berlin Open Access Days yesterday, I'm all fired up on this topic once more. Also check out the FriendFeed and Facebook pages.
